Meet our Doula Team
At Discover Birth we find the perfect match for you. Meet our doula team.Meet our doula team – Since birth is a profoundly intimate experience you need to find someone that you and your support person ‘click’ with. At Discover Birth you can rest assured you’re in good hands. Every doula on our team is professionally trained by a recognized certifying organization.
You should interview a few different doulas to choose the one that is the best fit with your personality, beliefs, philosophy, and hopes for birth.
Some clients prefer to have someone who’s gone through additional special training or who is certified with certain organizations (to receive reimbursement from their benefit plan for example). Finding the one that you feel most comfortable with is the main goal. You are the best judge of their “fit” with you and your partner and other support people. We’ll definitely help you get started! You don’t need to pick from this great big list! We do an intake with you and send you 1-2 doulas to meet with to get started. Please call us at any time! 1-877-BIRTH36 (247-8436)

Alicia Santin
Birth and Postpartum Doula
I have always found birth to be beautiful and powerful. After having my own child and birth experience, I decided to pursue training as a doula.
I believe birth is an act of love. It is transformational in so many ways, and it is so much more than just the birth of a child – it’s the start of a new life for everyone. As a birth and post partum doula I find fulfilment not in giving strength to birthing individuals and their family, but helping them access the strength they already posses. Confidence to trust your instincts, to nurse your baby to sleep if you want to, to hold your baby tons, to ask for help, to read books and then to throw out what doesn’t sit with you – to not let the advice of friends, family or random people on the bus take up too much space in your head. Its this kind of confidence that I encourage in the individuals and families I support.
During birth and in the uncertain days of early parenting, I come alongside families with a non-anxious presence and the belief that they can succeed.

I began my journey into Doula work shortly after the birth of my daughter in 2016. My birth and postpartum experience was not what I had imagined it would be, and I realized then how invaluable continuous support is during this transitional time. I am now a DONA trained Birth and Postpartum Doula, and a Childbirth Educator working towards my Lamaze Certification so I can confidently teach Childbirth Education to expectant parents.
I am passionate about helping families adjust to life with a newborn, through knowledge, compassion and unbiased support (and my absolute love of babies). I appreciate and embrace the opportunity to be part of such personal moments, and I learn and grow from each family I am fortunate enough to work with.
When I am not reading about birth and babies, I am usually enjoying the company of my two-year old daughter – painting, dancing, playing soccer and doing yoga together! Being a mother has made me more confident, compassionate, and patient, and I bring all of these traits to my work as a Doula and Childbirth Educator.

Sabrina Morataya
Birth and Postpartum Doula
Sabrina is a Labor and Post-partum Doula; Sabrina is trained in both but specializes in postpartum care. Sabrina has attained her Bachelor’s Degree in Gender and Women’s Studies from York University. Sabrina believes in supporting all parents during the birth and postpartum period. Before deciding to become a Doula, she had already begun her journey supporting young mothers. Sabrina is also a mother and based on her personal experiences became a Doula to provide non-judgmental support to other mothers. Sabrina chose postpartum work because she understands that this period is a vulnerable time and parents need as much support as possible to adjust to parenting. Sabrina is dedicated to supporting her clients emotionally by being of service to them in whichever way they need. Sabrina supports her clients by utilizing the knowledge she has attained through her personal experiences as a parent as well as her formal training and education.

Postpartum Doula
Being a Labour and Postpartum Doula has been the best combination for allowing me to live my two passions, supporting families and studying birth physiology. Holding space for new parents and aiding in that transition to parenthood is an honour to be a part of. Having experienced two very different labours myself, I discovered community, support, and knowledge are what will lead to the confidence needed to create a positive birth experience, and in turn a positive introduction into parenting.
When I’m not busy as a Doula, I love to spend time at home with my family. Taking time to create memories with two very busy boys and spending time with close family and friends. I am passionate about learning something new and challenging myself every day. I love creating a holistic, healthy environment for my family and love exploring new ways to do so.

Postpartum Doula
I have a background in social work and working with families (specifically infants and children). Since I was a little girl I’ve had a passion for helping people. I have always loved babies and after having my own I became interested in how I could get involved in supporting families in their birthing journeys. Becoming a doula has been a perfect fit for me to combine my passion and my experience into a very meaningful and rewarding career.
My pastimes include soaking up as much time with my teenagers as I can, being with my extended family and friends, spinning, baking, sewing and reading.

Tanicia Reedon
Birth and Postpartum Doula
Tanicia’s passion to become a Doula came to her at the age of 13 when her mother was pregnant with her sister. Experiencing first hand the ups and downs that flowed from pregnancy to birth (…and beyond) cemented her desire to care for mom and baby. After (literally) bumping into a midwifery student on the TTC one day she realized she could turn her passion into a career. Tanicia is a trained Labour Doula and Certified Postpartum & Infant Care Specialist Doula (with ProDoula, 2019) and her Doula arsenal includes: Breast/Chest Feeding, Developing the Bond Between Mother and Baby, Sex After Birth, Pelvic Floor Health, New Parent Education and Infant Massage. With 2 teenaged sisters she is the unofficial “period expert” in her family and among friends. She is fiercely passionate about social justice issues especially those that affect women, and has led women’s health seminars and ‘Lunch n Learn’ sessions at previous jobs.
